Staying in the amazing Glentress Hotel in The Tweed Valley, you’ll be treated to 4 nights top class accommodation on the doorstep of Scotland’s most popular trail centre. With all meals included, bike wash, secure storage, mechanical support and qualified local guides and coaches on hand to take you through your trip. The Tweed Valley is arguably the spiritual home of Scottish mountain biking. Since the mid- 90’s it’s been synonymous with both racing and recreational riding for people from far and wide. Over the years, the challenging trails and riding conditions have produced many household names as well as national and world champions. Fully Catered Experience:
From the minute you arrive at the Glentress Hotel your trip is fully catered.* You’ll have a 2 course evening meal every night at the hotel, breakfast every morning and lunch or a packed lunch when we’re out on the trail. All dietary needs can be catered for too. Even when you’re “off the clock” there’s a full bar and attached cafe at the hotel that welcomes mountain bikers. Even with all the associated muck and grime that they bring with them!
Accommodation Location:
You will stay in the excellent Glentress Hotel. Situated at the very heart of the Tweed Valley, you could not get a more central location to experience the available trail network. It’s doors are less than 100 metres away from the entrance to Glentress itself. So after dinner or at the end of the guided parts of your experience, you can just nip up the hill for a few extra turns! The trails at Innerleithen, Caberston (The Golfie) and Cademuir are also just a short ride away along a traffic free multi-use path. Should you wish to reach further afield and have a night out, Peebles is just a stones throw away too. A Scottish Mountain Bike Holiday should include huge hills, amazing views and legendary trails. We have all of this prepared for you!
Keeping your bike safe and in tip-top condition:
Your bike will be kept in secure storage on-site which you can have access to at any time the hotel staff are present. You’ll be able to wash your bike and our staff will be available during the hours of the trip to provide mechanical support. We’ll check your bikes and equipment before every ride and make sure you’re good to go too.
Our Guides and Instructors:
Our instructors have lots of awards and qualifications that you most likely won’t be interested in. But importantly we’re constantly learning through our experience. More than anything thats what makes us the best at what we do. Here’s a few that are most relevant to delivering a great guided mountain bike ride. All of our instructors are qualified British Cycling mountain Bike Leaders. The industry standard in the Mountain Bike Guide world. Amongst our Tweed Valley Guides we have both Level 2 and Level 3 MTB leaders. These awards are gained after intensive training courses, long consolidation periods and high pressure assessments. Assuring only the best of candidates get through the process.
Many or our number also hold British Cycling MBL and TCL Awards. These are past versions of the new British Cycling awards. They are still highly relevant and offer our up-to-date instructors and guides essential reflection on how their journey to their current qualifications. They cover all of the main points of group management, route planning and safety considerations that current awards do. Our staff also hold British Cycling and Cycling Scotland coaching and Instructor qualifications up to the maximum Level 5. All of our instructors hold a specialist outdoor first aid certificates.
