British Cycling Remote Leader Award Training and Assessment
The Remote Award equips qualified existing leaders with the skills and knowledge to lead rides into more remote environments. The award is perfect for current British Cycling Leaders (fundamentals and trail leader as well as Level 2 MBLA) who want to extend their remit and go further from a road, without going onto more technical terrain.
What can I do once certified?

- Your group rides, with up to 8 riders, will be able to go into more remote environments (over a 30-minute walk from a road) without going onto more technical terrain.
- Full details of the award remit are available in the guidelines for leading rides.

The course builds upon your current leadership award, expanding on the leadership, safety, and technical topics, including:

The pack includes both the 1.25000 scale and 1.5000 scale ordnance survey maps for the local area as well as a Silva brand Expedition 4 long base plate compass.
If ordered with your course or assessment, your Nav-Pack will be ready for collection when you arrive. If you prefer to have it posted, just leave a note at checkout—postage is free.
Need First Aid Training?
If you don’t yet hold a two-day outdoor first aid certificate you can still attend the training. However once you have taken and passed your assessment you will need this to validate the qualification. You can book a 2 day outdoor first aid course with our friends at First Aid Borders.
