Ridelines jobs: Full time Mountain Bike Skills Instructor and Guide.

Ridelines is a Mountain Bike Skills Tuition and Education company based in The Tweed Valley, Scotland. We deliver award winning courses to a diverse range of clients that want to better themselves both as riders and as members of the larger mountain bike community. 

As a member of our team, you will represent 10 years of Ridelines experience and a combined experience of the many more decades that our staff have been operating in the cycling industry in general. 

You will be expected to inspire others to be the best versions of themselves in the context of their aspirations. To provide a safe, inclusive environment for aspirant riders regardless of age, gender or experience. 

You will work closely with other team members and contribute to sectors of the business including customer communication, social media contributions, marketing and general administration. You should also be motivated to bring ideas for products and services to the company directors who will treat you as an equally entitled member of the Ridelines Team.

Qualifications: 

In the context of operation as an instructor and guide for Ridelines, You should hold a British Cycling Level 3 Mountain Bike Leader Award and a British Cycling Level 2 Mountain Bike Discipline Specific Coaching Qualification. If you do not hold these awards, a combination of the following will be considered as an alternative.

  • MIAS Level 3
  • MBCUK Technical Trail Leader.
  • Cycling Scotland Go MTB Level 5.
  • British Cycling Legacy MBL.
  • Cycling UK (CTC) Advanced MTB Leader.

Working Hours & Conditions:

Salary will be a minimum of £17,300 With appropriate experience this is negotiable. There may be opportunities for overtime too.  Your bike, along with relevant, appropriate equipment will be provided too. 

The job is advertised as 35 hours per week. You will likely work considerably less in the winter months but considerably more in the summer. You will be expected to have a pragmatic attitude to flexibility in working hours. This is an important aspect of the seasonal nature of our business. 

You must ideally be within a comfortable travelling distance of The Tweed Valley, Scotland. Due to the nature of our operating area and the hours we schedule our sessions, margins of error for your commute must be at a minimum. You may also be asked to work at our High Street premises in Innerleithen on a day to day basis. 

You will be working outdoors in all weathers. You will be provided with the appropriate PPE which will remain the property of Ridelines. You will not be expected to work in dangerous conditions, but adverse conditions are common. You should be comfortable and experienced in the outdoors.

You will also be required to hold a 2 day outdoor first aid qualification, though this can be arranged by Ridelines if it supports your leadership or coaching qualification. 

You will also be initially, then regularly checked against the Scottish Government’s Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme. In addition, you will need to complete an online child and vulnerable groups protection course if you have not done so already.  

Other considerations:

You should be literate in the major social media channels and how to manage content. You will be required to write content for our website and customer facing product details. You should also be confident in answering customer enquiries via both email and telephone.
